DESCRIPTION:Join us live for a very special reading of the whimsical children’s book ‘Narwhal Makes a Sandwich’ by co-author and Speech-Language Pathologist\, Aryn Franklin. \n\n\n‘Narwhal Makes a Sandwich’ is the first book in the series. It is a sequencing and number story featuring hungry Narwhal sick of his usual cold water sushi and looking for a change to liven up his taste buds. He resolves to make “THE GREATEST SANDWICH THE ARCTIC OCEAN HAS EVER SEEN”. Come follow along on this scrumptious adventure through the magical waters of Canada’s north. \n\nStory time will be followed by a few Narwhal-themed activities\, including both movement and drawing. Have some paper and colouring tools ready (pencil\, markers\, crayons\, etc.) to participate in the fun! Please note\, you can stay as long or as short as you’d like for this event. You can choose to stay for the follow-up activities\, or just join in for the short reading time at the beginning (approximately 15 minutes).\n\nFor more information about the book\, please visit: www.threehornunicorn.com\n \n***This event will be recorded so that members who missed the live broadcast can enjoy the activity with their families. Of course\, cheering is a great help and encouragement to the runners as well. \nAdult supervision is required for any kids that are volunteering. SUMMARY:Family Event- Trains at Heritage Acres
DESCRIPTION:Come explore Heritage Acres\, meet other families with autistic children\, and go for a ride on the train! \nVancouver Island Model Engineers (VIME) operates a mini railway\, located in the Saanich Historical Artifacts Society (Heritage Acres). They have generously agreed to host VSCA members again for our family get together on September 14th\, from 1:30-3:30pm. \nDon’t forget your sunscreen\, hats\, water\, and anything else you need to stay safe in the sun. There will also be other buildings and items to explore! \nFor directions or more information about VIME\, you can check out their website here. \nPlease note that this event is for immediate families that are supporting a child who is under 18 and has autism. Space may be limited to ensure safety for everyone\, as the trains are run by volunteers and only have a certain amount of capacity.
