DESCRIPTION:Come explore Heritage Acres\, meet other families with autistic children\, go for a ride on the train and grab a hot dog for lunch. \nYou MUST visit Eventbrite link to register for a ticket for your family. \nVancouver Island Model Engineers (VIME) operates a mini railway\, located in the Saanich Historical Artifacts Society (Heritage Acres). They have generously agreed to host Victoria Autism family members for a family get-together on June 1st\, from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. \nDon’t forget your sunscreen\, hats\, water\, and anything else you need to stay safe in the sun. \nFor directions or more information about VIME\, you can check out their website here. \nPlease note that this event is for immediate families that are supporting a child who is 18 or younger and has autism. Train priority will be given to those with a registered ticket time. One caregiver can ride with each autistic child. Space may be limited to ensure safety for everyone\, as volunteers run the trains and only have a certain amount of capacity.

DESCRIPTION:We welcome guest speaker Simone Duff\, Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC)\, will be presenting on parent mental wellness. Simone will be discussing aspects of mental wellness\, such as the integration of physical\, emotional\, psychological\, social\, and spiritual factors. Looking after the needs of self and others\, especially when parenting neurodiverse children\, takes on additional challenges such as learning how to advocate\, additional education\, and sourcing sensory requirements. She will provide some foundational tools to consider for own mental wellbeing. Lastly\, she will discuss the benefits of implementing boundaries around seeking out time for self.  Please note that our regular child care providers are back and both the children’s room and the teen room are open. DESCRIPTION:  \nWe are excited to have Elinor Taylor\, RCC from NeurAlive joining us to give a presentation in on May 12\, 2023  from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. \nNeurAlive offers advanced brain-training to children and youth with autism\, providing their brains with real time feedback via pain-free\, non-invasive EEG and audio technology. DESCRIPTION:WildPlay will be closing their park to other visitors and staying open late to host our group. They will be offering a sensory sensitive environment and extra course time for those who need it. Participants can choose between the Kids course and the Classic course. Parents and siblings are welcome. WildPlay has generously offered us a discounted group rate as well as donating a limited number of tickets to allow us to offer this event as a pay what you can event. Minimum age for the event is 5 years old. Minimum height for the children’s course is 3’9″ and for the classic course is 4’8″
