Let me know by email if you need any special dietary restrictions. Also\, if you need to be with your teen in the escape room\, you need to let us know as each room has strict occupany levels that must be observed. \nRosewood Manor\nThe Rosewood Manor has been abandoned for decades. Today\, many years later\, you too have entered the Rosewood Manor on a quest for the truth. Will you have the wits to escape his enchanted lair\, or will you become the next victims to his latest spell? \nALLERGY WARNING: This room contains real hay. SUMMARY:Sidney ACT Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Autism Community Training (ACT) has arranged for Pamela Crooke\, PhD\, CCC-SLP Director\, Social Thinking Training and Speakers’ Collaborative from San Jose\, California to present – “I’m going to be a video game designer!”- Helping Teens Prepare for the REAL Adult World. \nMany families are concerned that their teens with ASD are unprepared to graduate. Academically able students also need help to develop the life skills they need to thrive in higher education and employment.  School and home teams are more effective when they consider these issues at 12 rather than 17! This one day workshop with Dr. Pamela Crooke\, who works extensively with able teens and young adults\, will provide school teams and parents with a practical approach to helping young people with ASD thrive either in higher education or employment. \nDr. Pamela Crooke\, Chief of Research at Social Thinking\, is an SLP and academic with long experience in working with youth and young adults with social learning challenges. She is an excellent presenter\, blending humour and compassion. Her most recent book geared to adults\, Good Intentions Are Not Good Enough\, was co-authored with Michelle Garcia Winner. \nParticipants will be able to: \n\nDescribe the impact that social learning challenges have on academics and relationship building during the teen/young adult years.\nDiscuss how the Cascade of Social Attention relates to styles of learning (concrete vs. nuanced based).\nExplain how anxiety can be a “stop sign” in an individual’s ability to use Social Thinking and related skills.\nExplain how a student can learn to identify and prioritize his or her own treatment* goals.\n\nView Event Details and Registration

She has spent most of her adult life supporting individuals with ASD to be the best they can be. Teresa’s presentation will be about “Launch Into Life” an innovative program that supports families to begin creating goals to prepare their youth to transition to adulthood. \n  \n5:00 pm                Official Close of event.
